Equine Therapy Fund
Worldwild Equine Therapy Fund is a new charity that has been set up to run alongside the various equine assisted projects facilitated by Worldwild Adventures.
Since our involvement in setting up and running The Horse Boy Camps for children on the autism spectrum we have been amazed by the wonderful healing power of horses. We are dedicated to providing the opportunity for as many people as possible to benefit from time spent in nature with these wonderful animals.
Through running the Horse Boy Camps it quickly became apparent that families with children on the autism spectrum often struggle to afford places on these holidays. We began to try to offer subsidised places, only charging full price to those who could afford to pay. We soon realised that proper funding was required to enable as many families as possible to attend and we also began to dream of bigger projects to follow on from the camps.
And so our Worldwild Equine Therapy Fund was created. We launch officially in January 2010 with three UK screenings of the Horse Boy Movie to raise funds. We are also very excited to have received our first donationsÉ £1000 from Penguin Books who publish The Horse Boy and a private donation of £500 to enable a family to attend a spring camp.
The fund will provide a means for families on low incomes to attend the Horse Boy Camps in the UK and internationally. We are also working hard to set up a dedicated equine therapy centre for children with special needs and there are other projects in the pipeline once we have regular donations coming in.
