UK Adventures - Bushcraft/Primitive Skills

We like to think that we have a slightly different approach to teaching bushcraft and primitive skills. We have thought about the skills, which provide us with a connection to our ancestral ways and put together a list of workshops and adventures, led by the most skilled people in the industry, to teach you these subjects.

The knowledge that we pass on comes from many different cultures and integrates the philosophies and practical skills both of our ancestors, and of indigenous peoples who still practice them today.

Primitive skills with Will Lord

On this 2-day course Will Lord will be teaching all the skills required to make your own arrows. Day one will be spent learning the ancient skill of flint knapping to make arrowheads and other primitive tools. On the second day we will learn how to make glue, how to make natural cordage and how to construct an arrow including fletching and placing your arrowhead.

This is a great opportunity to spend two days in the company of a real expert in his field, and to spend time rediscovering primitive skills.

Bow Making

Whilst walking through a wooded place, carrying a bow that you have created transports you to an ancestral time. The simple bow is so familiar. Most cultures once used the bow and arrow to hunt for food and protect their homes. The elegance of a self bow, that being one made from a single piece of wood, has no rival.

This class will take a seasoned log to a fully working bow. You will learn how to select and split the log, shape and tiller to produce a beautiful bow, a work of art. This class is for those who want a full understanding of the principles of bow making, therefore multiple designs will be created from different species of trees, providing the student with a greater understanding. Also more advanced techniques will be demonstrated so that participants have knowledge of topics such as sinew backing, re-curves, splicing etc.
